Bruno Colin, Chassagne Montrachet

UK Stock & Excellars available

Domaine Bruno Colin, Chassagne Montrachet. After the 2003 vintage the vineyard ownership of Domaine Michel Colin-Deleger were divided between his two sons Philippe & Bruno.
I had always been a fan of the wines of Michel Colin-Deleger and to my mind it was always one of the best addresses in the village, so it would be interesting to see how the two brothers would interpret these same vineyards.
The overriding style that comes through on all these wines was the minerality and fingerprint of each vineyard.

These are brilliant wines.

Domaine Rene Lequin-Colin, Santenay

UK Stock & Excellars available

Domaine Rene Lequin-Colin, Santenay. This may well be a new name to many and indeed I first met Francois Lequin in the summer but was instantly impressed by the wines we was making.
Rene Lequin married Josette Colin from Chassagne Montrachet whose brother is Michel Colin (Domaine Michel Colin-Deleger) so now they have both excellent Santenay and Chassagne Montrachet vineyards. The domaine in total is 9 hectares made up of 19 different wines so is a real patchwork but the underlying quality is brilliant.
Spending time tasting and talking to Francois is a real pleasure and what was striking was how he had an understanding of the local market and international context. This is a very switched on vigneron.
