This was a real treat to find, a small Domaine in their second year headed up by two very passionate young brothers. Marc and Alexandre have access to wonderful vineyard sites in Puligny Montrachet under a metayage scheme to compliment their family holdings in Maranges.

Across the entire range the wines show a precision that can seem all too elusive these days.

Denis Barraud is a relative new comer but has a wealth of experience behind him. He is lucky to have several old vine parcels to work with, although some are only due to release their first wines as he has spent years working them according to organic principles to re juvinate them.
He currently produces a light fresh Macon – Vergisson, an aromatic St Veran and three Pouilly Fuisse wines:
Chataignier – reserved for the US market
Vieille Vigne Les Folles - no oak and in my opinion more complete than the Chataignier
La Roche – produced from 90-year-old vines, which sees 7 months in a mix of new, 1, 2 & 3-year oak.
From 2005 he will also have his two other vineyards En Ouche & L’Eau available.
