The
success of the 2001 vintage has been followed by an
equally stunning 2002 and 2003. Sam’s family purchased
the property in the 1960s and set about planting vines in 1971
but for various reasons nothing really happened and they were
on the point of selling when Sam and his wife Rose decided to
move from Adelaide and get the vineyard back into shape. After
several years of hard work they have a mature vineyard of Shiraz
and Cabernet they released their debut wine – Frux Frugis
Shiraz. It is causing a real stir in Australia already and this
is a name to watch.
"Is already being whispered about as a Cult-Wine-In-Waiting.
It has heaps of rich, black fruit and smoky oak, and is plush
and very McLaren Vale in style.” Max Allen
“The
inaugural ’01 was a landmark for Mc Laren Shiraz styles,
but this 2002 is, dare I say it, even finer and more impressive
– phenomenal work” Matthew Jukes: matthewjukes.com
