Tony and Brian Devitt are responsible for Margaret River’s best-kept secret, Ashbrook Estate. Nestling amidst bush is this gem of a vineyard and winery. Their recent successes at Wine Shows in Perth, Sydney and UK only confirms my faith in the wines with the 2002 Chardonnay in the Top 5 of James Halliday’s list, 2004 Semillon in Matthew Jukes’ top 100 list and at this years Sheraton Awards the 2005 Semillon & Verdelho won Gold with the 2005 Riesling picking up a silver.
We keep stocks of Semillon, including museum vintages, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Chardonnay and Shiraz with Verdelho being exclusively available at Vin du Van Wine Merchants in Appledore.
The wines are I believe under priced for their quality but they are pragmatic and sensible about the world market. The whites are all bottled under Stelvin closure.

Ian Bell lives in what must be the most picturesque corner of Australia, in Yallingup just to the north of Margaret River, on a farm covering some 300 acres with stunning coastal views. He has combined a general managers role at the region’s foremost winery Moss Wood with the single-handed planting and development of his own label from an initial planting of just under 5 hectares: 3.6 ha Cabernet Sauvignon and 1.2ha Merlot, Petit Verdot & Malbec.
The wine spends 2 years in French oak and tacked over a 12 month period then bottled un fined.
The first release 280 cases of the fabulous 2000 vintage which has now been followed by the stunning 2001 available with cork or stelvin closure.
I have a particular affinity with these wines as worked at Moss Wood in the early 1990s and witnessed at first hand those initial plantings at Glenmore. Ian is also responsible for another vineyard in Yallingup called PinPin
